Boris’in Yeri is a breakfast place in Kumkapı, has opened almost 100 years. Kumkapı district had been famous by taverns and gipsy style entertainment until 2000. Nowadays Kumkapı mostly preferred by specific immigrants and middle eastern tourists. But for the Boris’s yeri the situation is different. The typical Turkish breakfast place is very popular in mostly Korean visitors nowadays, by keeping its old style.

The guy who named the place Boris is originally Bulgarian minority dies in 1996. His little place called Boris’in Yeri has been supplying cheese for the taverns and serving breakfast to restaurant workers. After People’s interest increase to old city (social media another reason) the place become popular both locals and tourists. The breakfast place has old decor, takes its visitors to 80-90’s. Also the owners and workers always in a serious face expression like meaning “why you are so surprising when you enter the place”

Boris’in yeri has lots of signature dishes. One of the first one is Bal-Kaymak (Honey and Cream) which is common in Turkish breakfast. Also you can try egg dishes with kavurma (roasting) and suck (sausage). Ekmek Kadayıfı (A dessert with syrup) another signature of the placa. Boris’in Yeri is a very uniq breakfast place very close the Sultanahmet must be visited during your old city tours.
